Corner Sofa -- The Living Room Essential
67One of the things that can make a room is a corner sofa. Leather or
cloth, corduroy or plush, the corner sofa is far superior to its
one-wall counterpart -- roomier and full of comfort. When was the last
time you sat on a corner sofa and weren't comfy? Maybe it is because
you are not going to often find a corner sofa at bargain prices. Or
maybe I am biased. I grew up with corner sofas, and I like them.
Where better to sack out for a rest and still leave plenty of room for
another person to use the sofa? If you can afford a little more for
your sofa, splurge a little and get the corner model. Why not? Okay. Don't tell me. I don't want to think about the reasons someone would actually not get a corner sofa. ;)
If you buy a corner sofa, I'm sure you'll be glad you did.
You get what you pay for. This is important to note. You so get what
you pay for in life, do you not? I do not mean to be too smarmy, but
my name is smarmymarley
-- you can save money now and be sorry you did it later. I know I have
been. I am not saying break the bank. Just don't buy a sofa that will
break. Sometimes, saving money now costs you more in the long run. I
have a friend -- I hope she's still my friend after I tell this story
-- let's call her Rita. Well, Rita wanted a corner sofa, but she
wanted to go it cheap. As it turns out, not such a good idea, Rita.
She shopped at a store known for its bargain-priced, easily assembled,
furniture. She paid less than she would have paid almost anywhere
else, but the sofa she got was mass-produced and cheaply made --
light-but-not-durable wood, a small blemish here, a missing part
there. You get the idea. Around the time the sofa's warranty came to
its end, Rita's boyfriend -- let's call him Goofy -- came over and sat
down just hard enough on the sofa to break some of that cheap wood.
Now, behind the skirt of its cover, Rita's sofa has a stack of books
keeping it from sagging.
If she had spent a little more, for
better materials, I think Rita would have been happier, and her sofa
would be sturdier and probably last longer. Poor Rita. Sometimes, she
makes shortsighted choices, but surely I have made a mistake or two in
my life. I just can't think of them right now. ;)
Now if you are
in the market for a corner sofa, you may be surprised to know you can
buy them online. This is a totally reasonable, modern way to shop. I
like online shopping, and I would be willing to buy almost any product
online. I once ordered a splendid chaise online. It arrived in
excellent condition. Don't be afraid to order furniture online --
especially if you are looking for something hard to find (which is all the
more reason to shop online). You can find many a great corner sofa on
the Internet.
Add an ottoman, and you've got the essential sofa combo. Enjoy!
